ALTONA — Cynthia M. Gero, 53, of Miner Farm Road in Altona, N.Y., passed away on Friday, Jan. 31, 2014 at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, Vt.
She was born in Plattsburgh on Feb. 1, 1960, the daughter of Victor and Constance (Weightman) Gero Sr.
Cynthia graduated from Northern Adirondack Central School in 1978. She worked at Wyeth Pharmaceuticals for many years before becoming a Corrections Officer with the New York State Dept. of Corrections, as well as a member of the Vermont Army National Guard. Cynthia enjoyed traveling to places like; Mexico, Bahamas and Dominican Republic.
She was predeceased by her parents.
Cynthia is survived by her siblings, Sharron Graves and her husband Ralph Jr., Victor Gero Jr. and his wife Bonnie, Christol Lafave and her husband Dean, Merton Gero and his wife Arlane, all of Altona; her nieces and nephews, Lori Graves, Lisa LaPoint, Lynn Graves, Christine, Steven and Kimberly Gero, Wesley and Samantha Lafave, Carrie Robare and Nicholas Gero; several great-nieces, great-nephews; and a special friend, Helen Warren of Altona.
Calling hours will be held from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014 at the Brown Funeral Home in Altona. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Holy Angels Church in Altona, burial will be in the parish cemetery later in the year.
Donations in Cynthia's memory may be made to the Altona Volunteer Fire Dept.
