MOOERS FORKS — Joseph D. Snide, 82, of Mooers Forks died Wednesday, July 31, 2013.
He was born July 3, 1931, in Mooers Forks, the son of Joseph and Cora (Forett) Snide. He was employed at Georgia Pacific for 35 years, retiring in 1997. He also worked at the missile base, Christianity Construction and ran his own dairy farm.
He loved working at the farm, in the sugar bush and was so proud of his garden. He enjoyed riding his golf cart and lately his gator and giving his grandchildren rides. His cat Dede will miss following him around.
Joseph was a member of the Ellenburg Knights of Columbus, St. Augustus J. Dumont Council #4441, Past Grand Knight of the third degree in Ellenburg and a member of the 4th degree in Malone.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Theresa Snide of Mooers Forks; two daughters, Debbie Miner and her husband, Phalon of Ellenburg Depot and Sheila Trombley and her husband Bruce of Ellenburg Center; five sons, Scott Snide of Mooers Forks, Todd Snide and his wife Maureen of Mooers Forks, Joey Snide and his wife Mary of Altona, Michael Snide and his wife Amanda of Chazy; Kelly Snide and his companion Hope of Altona; one sister, Stella Dubuque of Plattsburgh and one brother, Gerald Snide of Plattsburgh. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Joseph is predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Cora Snide; his sister, Irene Frenette and her husband Arthur; sister in law, Frances Snide; and brother in law, Jack Dubuque.
Calling hours will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 4, at the Ross Funeral Home in Mooers. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 5, at St. Ann's Church in Mooers Forks.
Third degree will meet at 6 p.m. Sunday at Ross Funeral Home. Fourth degree color corp is requested. Donations may be made to St. Jude's Hospital or a charity of one's choice.
