PORT CHARLOTTE, FLORIDA — Margaret Perkett Gionet passed away July 31, 2013, in Port Charlotte. She was born Oct. 25, 1931, in Keeseville, N.Y., the daughter of Edith Graves and Elmer Perkett.
She graduated from Keeseville High School and was a licensed Property and Casualty Insurance Agent. She worked for Northern Insurance Agency and Fox-Finnegan Insurance Agency of Keeseville for many years and also worked for Clinton Community College and the Clinton County Health Department before retiring in 1992.
In addition to raising a family and working, she devoted numerous hours as a volunteer in various community organizations; including Keeseville Ladies of the Elks, serving as President and Secretary; and the Catholic Community of Keeseville. Margaret loved people and had many good friends. She enjoyed a wide range of social activities including The Elks Club, bowling, horseshoes, and golf. She was always ready to help organize Keeseville High School reunions. After retiring, she and her husband Dan travelled extensively and spent winters in Port Charlotte and North Port, Fla. She was an avid lover of sports, including golfing and skiing, and was devoted to going to the gym.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Williams and her husband Guy of North Port, Melissa Gionet of North Port, and Amy Monette and her husband George of Malone, N.Y. She is also survived by many beloved in-laws, nieces and nephews.
She was married 45 years to Daniel J. Gionet, until his death in July of 2004. She is also predeceased by her son, Christopher; her brothers, William, Jude and Emile Perkett; and her sisters, Mary Jones, Anne Arnold and Lillian Blood.
