---- — MOOERS FORKS — Alice T. DeCoste, 76, formerly of the Cannon Corners Road, and more recently of the Duprey Road, Mooers Forks, died Saturday, July 6, 2013 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, with her loving family by her side.

She was born in Ellenburg, Jan. 1, 1937, the daughter of Fred and Gladys (Cook) Boyea.

Alice was a loving, and caring homemaker, and for a time served as a local rural relief carrier for the United States Postal Service until her husband, Marcel, took ill, at which time she left her job to help him recover. She and her husband also owned and ran the bar his father built, "Rockland Inn" and many a tale were retold about the times spent cooking meals and tending bar.

Alice enjoyed spending time with her family. Her face lit up when we walked in the door. There was never a doubt about how much she loved her family. She adored her dog, Jake, who has been a constant source of enjoyment and companionship. She also enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with her family of friends at the Ganienkeh Bingo Hall. She loved her bingo family tremendously. Mom was a die hard Yankee fan even though many other family members were Red Socks fans. Never doubt how much she loved to rub it in when her team won! She also loved to see her beautiful flowers grow and she loved to watch all the birds she made sure were fed. She was amazingly funny, quick witted and full of humor. She could have easily been a comedian. She was spunky and no matter how tough things were, she still found humor and a positive side. She was a tremendous inspiration to us all and she will be missed dearly.

Thank you Linda for being there to bring mom to dialysis three days a week. You have no idea how much this meant to her and to us. Thank you Patricia 'Pat' Rodriguez for being mom's helping hand which allowed her to continue to enjoy her favorite pastime. She loved you. Finally, thank you Dr. Pabst for the many times you worked a miracle and helped mom get past yet another health hurdle and you would tell her, "To the moon, Alice' and she would laugh and tell you, "To the moon.' For this we can never repay you.

Survivors include her son, Craig DeCoste of Mooers Forks; her daughter and son-in-law, Deborah (DeCoste) and Dan Garrand of Mooers; a daughter, Robin Gadway (DeCoste) and her companion Robert Haley of Rouses Point; a daughter and son-in-law, Wendy (DeCoste) and Jim Davison of Mooers Forks; a daughter Tracy DeCoste of Chazy; seven grandchildren, Candice and Matthew Garrand, Justin, Jon, and Jessica Gadway and Travis and Tyler Davison; six great-grandchildren, Adam Garrand-Reid, Lily, Logan and Liam Gadway, Raeghan Davison, and Alexis; and she was awaiting the birth of two more great-granddaughters, Charlie Deborah Charles and Demi Alice Garrand. She is also survived by one brother, Irving Boyea of Plattsburgh.

She was also predeceased by Betty Barcomb whom she welcomed into her home many years ago and loved as one of her own.
