PLATTSBURGH — Elizabeth Waddy, 98, of Homestead Drive and formerly of the Ryan Rd. Saranac, died Thursday July 4, 2013.
She was born on April 8, 1915 in Bronx, N.Y., the daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth (Opprect) Richner.
Elizabeth married George Waddy on Sept. 18, 1937 in Bronx, N.Y., and after all these years in the North Country she still had her accent. George and Elizabeth summered in Loon Lake starting in the late 1950's until George passed away in 1995. She enjoyed seeing nature in all its beauty either on her deck or in her boat. Elizabeth was an accomplished musician and artist. Many of her paintings were sold throughout the North Country. She had a great sense of humor and was to the point, she had no problem letting you know what she was thinking. Elizabeth was a freelance interior designer working for many businesses in the Plattsburgh area.
She is survived by her son, George W. Waddy and his wife Larie of Loon Lake; grandchildren, Jacob Waddy of Columbia, Md., Maria Waddy of Columbia, Md., step-grandchildren, Christine Swift of Doylestown, Pa. and Kevin Sano of Smithtown, Long Island; four great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at the R. W. Walker Funeral Home, with Rev. Ken Parker, retired officiating. Burial will take place at a later date.
Because of Elizabeth's passion for animal rights, donation may be make in her memory to the Adirondack Humane Society.
