---- — KEESEVILLE — Joan Julia Cassavaugh, 68, of Hill Street, Keeseville, passed away on July 6, 2013, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, with her loving family by her. She was born Jan. 23, 1945, in Middlebury, Vt., the daughter of the late Aurel Alphonse Desautels and Margeurite Elizabeth Kimball Desautels.

She was employed as a cashier at Grand Union in Elizabethtown.

She married Erwin Acel Cassavaugh on Sept. 28, 1963, in Port Henry. She was predeceased by her husband on Dec. 13, 1989.

She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Cassavaugh Wagner and her husband David Wagner of Plattsburgh; and their children, Kimberly Wagner, Beatrice Turrieta and David Wagner Jr.; and great-grandkids, Nicholas Turrieta, Natalie Turrieta and Layla Keller; a son, Bruce Cassavaugh and his wife Antoinette Cassavaugh of Saint Augustine, Fla.; and their children, Eric Cassavaugh and his companion Kathryn Fritts, Joshua Cassavaugh, Christian Cassavaugh, Michael Cassavaugh and Josephine Cassavaugh; an adopted daughter, Genie-Mae Denton-Schrumm; and her two children, Winston and Gideon Schrumm, who became her adopted grandchildren. She is survived by her brothers and sisters. Ronald Desautels and his wife Alberta, Linda LaRocque and her husband Geary, Starr Bronson and her husband Wayne, Barbara Floyd and her husband Duane, Paul Desautels and his wife Debra. She is survived by brother and sisters-in-law, Sonja Aubin and husband Claude, Eugene Cassavaugh and wife Isabelle, Sharon Garvey and husband Wayne and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son, Bryan Cassavaugh (1967); a brother, Donald Desautels; sisters, Patricia Newton, Glenna Scott and Ruby Trombley; in-laws, Floyd and Hattie Cassavaugh; sister and brothers-in-law, Earl Cassavaugh, Sanda Robetoy, and Everett Cassavaugh.

Calling hours will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, at W.M. Marvins Sons Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, at the Lewis Congregational Church, with the burial following in the church cemetery. A reception will be held immediately following the services at the VFW Post 1505 in Keeseville.
