PLATTSBURGH — Bernard R. Seymour, 88, of Route 3, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Morrisonville, N.Y., on May 23, 1925, the son of Charles L. and Julia (LaFountain) Seymour. He attended Morrisonville High School.
Bernard married the former Nancy Sorrell on March 28, 1970 in Morrisonville, N.Y.
He worked as a machine operator at Diamond International in Plattsburgh until his retirement after 40 years of service. Bernard enjoyed fishing and most of all, he took great joy in playing his guitar and singing.
Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Nancy Seymour of Plattsburgh; three sons, Raymond Seymour of Sciota, N.Y., Richard Burdo of Plattsburgh, and Donald Burdo of Plattsburgh; three daughters, June O'Banion and her husband Robert of Moriah, N.Y., Julie O'Connor and her husband Casey of Peru, N.Y., and Sharon Burdo of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; one brother, Gerald Seymour and his wife Dianna of Plattsburgh; two sisters, Sandra Winterbottom and her husband Gordon of West Chazy, and Elizabeth Burl and her husband Dana of Plattsburgh; eight grandchildren, Jessica, Mike, Andrew, Donald, Robin, Roxanne, Rhonda, and Roseanna; two great-grandchildren, Kailyn and Alex; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, one brother, Franklin Seymour, and two sisters, Gertrude Wood and Viola Ormsby.
Calling hours will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, at the R. W. Walker Funeral Home, 69 Court Street, Plattsburgh. A graveside service will follow at 3:30 in St. Peter's Cemetery in Plattsburgh.
