PLATTSBURGH/LAKELAND FL. — Earl E. Bennett Jr., 77, of Cumberland Head, Plattsburgh, and Lakeland, Fla., died April 30, 2013, of heart failure, at his Lakeland Home.
He was born in Rutland, Vt., on July 20, 1935, the son of Earl and Marjorie Bennett.
Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Gloria (Lopez) Bennett, his daughter, Patricia Tidmore and husband Steve of Lakeland, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Dylan, Loukas, Rebecca, Heather, Joseph, Justine, E.B. And Robbie. He is also survived by many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, and his son, Benjamin on Nov. 4, 2010.
He served in the Navy during the Korean War, and worked for the NYS Department of Corrections for 28 years.
Earl was a great husband, dad and grandfather, and will be deeply missed. He will remain in the hearts and memories of all who knew and loved him.
He was a good Christian, always helping at his church in Plattsburgh and Florida.
Earl enjoyed golfing, fishing, boating on Lake Champlain and spending time with family and friends.
A funeral mass will be held May 14, in Lakeland, Fla. A military burial will be held at the Veteran's National Cemetary in Bushnell, Fla. at the convenience of the family.
