PIERCEFIELD — Augustine (Gus) LaPlante, 98, of Tupper Lake passed away, Saturday, April 27th, at Mercy Living Center following a brief illness with his family by his side.
Gus was born on June 12, 1914 in Piercefield, N.Y., the son of Eugene and Mary ( Desjardin) LaPlante. He grew up in Piercefield where he lived an exciting life.

Gus worked for Revere Copper & Brass in Rome, N.Y. After his retirement, he moved to Childwold, N.Y. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, snowmobiling, hunting and gardening. Gus's favorite pastime was fishing on the Racquette River in Childwold.
Gus was pre-deceased by his wife, Theresa; sisters, Netta Dumas, Papst (Reata) Wiecorek, Margarite Fountain, Marie Jenne LaPlante; brothers, Romeo, Armand, Alcide (Peanut), Earnest, Lairy and Tomas (Bean); daughter, Diane Keys; sons, Ronald, Eugene and Gary; and loving companion Helen Shultz.
