Imogene E. Abel

WAUPUN, WISCONSIN — Imogene E. Abel, 86, of Waupun, died Tuesday, April 30, 2013. She was born Jan. 4, 1927, in Fond du Lac, Wisc., the daughter of Kinley D. and Hertha Schmude Tew.

Imogene attended Waupun schools and graduated from Waupun High School in 1943. The Tew family moved to Fond du Lac in October of 1943. On Nov. 24, 1949, she married Thomas F. Abel at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac where they were members. Then they moved to Waupun. Imogene was a long-time member of Pella Lutheran Church in Waupun.

Imogene is survived by a daughter, Sandra Abel and her husband David Faas of Madison, Wisc.; a son, Gary (Sharon) Abel of Cadyville; two grandchildren, George (Patti) Coger of Morrisonville and Terri (Brian) Douglas of Plattsburgh; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; eleven nieces and nephews, David (Carol) Johnson of Beaver Dam, Wisc., Donna (Ron) Culver of Green Lake, Wisc., Ron Johnson of Oshkosh, Wisc., Gary (Nancy) Becker of Fond du Lac, Linda Schroeder of Fond du Lac, Carolyn (Rick) Wasserman of Rockford, Minn., Randy (Nancy) Jagow of Fond du Lac, Louis and Alan Jagow of Fond du Lac, Wanda (Ted) Zielicke of Mt. Calvary, Wisc., and David (Annette) Jagow of Mt. Calvary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; her parents; her brother, Lyle; and sisters, Orena and Vala Nee and their spouses; and a great-great-grandson.

Funeral services for Imogene Abel will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 3, at Pella Lutheran Church with Rev. Mike Stock officiating. Burial will follow at Norwegian Lutheran Cemetery in the town of Waupun. Friends and relatives may call on the family from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution can be directed to a charity of your choice.
