---- — PLATTSBURGH — Frances R. Smith, 88, died Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Clinton County Nursing Home, following a long battle with cancer.

She was born in Plattsburgh on April 11, 1925, the daughter of Frederich Herman and Francelia (Deloria) Smith.

Frances was a life-long resident of Plattsburgh and enjoyed travel from a young age. Her father worked for the D&H Railroad and Frances and her sisters would often travel to Whitehall and beyond to visit family and friends. She later worked for AAA Northway and relished the opportunity to visit new places. She was a devout Catholic and a longtime member of St. Peter's Church.

Survivors include nieces and nephews from throughout the North Country and beyond.

She was predeceased by three brothers, Alvin, Lloyd and Herman Smith; and four sisters, Dorothy Holland, Goldie Smith, Lucille Golden and Velma Bourdeau.

Calling hours will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home, 69 Court St., Plattsburgh, with a funeral service following at 4 p.m. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to the Adirondack Humane Society or the Elmore SPCA, as Frances loved all animals, especially her cats. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.r wwalkerfh.com
