---- — CADYVILLE — Mrs. Elizabeth "Liz" Connor, 85, of Park Row in Cadyville, N.Y. died peacefully on Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, at her home with her loving husband Samuel and her faithful canine companion Rusty by her side.

She was born in Cadyville on July 20, 1928, the daughter of John B. and Rita (Tormey) Devan.

Liz graduated from St. John's High School and was employed at F.W. Woolworth in Plattsburgh and later worked at the Cadyville Post Office for 29 years and retired as postmaster. Liz enjoyed cooking, caring for her grandchildren and praying for anyone who needed prayer.

She was a Charter Member of the American Legion Post #1619 Ladies Auxiliary, the Cadyville Fire Department Auxiliary, St. James Church and the Altar-Rosary Society of St. James Church.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Samuel Connor of Cadyville; her children and their spouses, Joseph and Vanessa Branch of Baton Rouge, La., William Branch of Saranac, Mary Paul of Plattsburgh; seven grandchildren, Kristi Hoffman and her husband Tripp, Joey, Connor, Spencer, Seth, Kyle, and Sarah Anderson and her husband Cliff; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; a daughter Claire Catherine Branch; a sister Helen Miller; three brothers, William, Clement and Earl Devan.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 30, at the Brown Funeral Home, 3 Park Row in Cadyville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31, at St. James Church in Cadyville. Entombment will follow at Whispering Maples Mausoleum in Plattsburgh.
