MINEVILLE/PLATTSBURGH — Frances J. Deresky, 93, passed away at the Meadowbrook Nursing Home on August 27, 2103. She was born on July 20, 1920 in Witherbee, N.Y., the daughter of John and Anna Dembrosky.
She is survived by her son, John M. Deresky and spouse Helen of Keeseville, N.Y.; her daughter, Janice A. Dawson and spouse John of Champlain, N.Y.; and niece, Deborah Smith and spouse Phillip of Hamburg, N.Y.; grandsons, John J. Deresky and spouse Alyssa of Jamestown, R.I., Mark M. Deresky and spouse Sherry of Dunkirk, Md., John F. Dawson III and spouse Nicole of Burlington, Vt.; granddaughters, Lara A. Foster and spouse Tom of Luxembourg, Jennifer A. Dawson of Burlington, Vt. and Jamie E. LaFountain and spouse Scott of Moors Forks, N.Y.; great-grandchildren, John R., Helena, and Max Deresky; Jacob, Sarah and Rachel Deresky; Thomas J. and Luke Foster; Brady, Brin and Bailey LaFountain and Griffin Smith.
Frances was predeceased by her parents; her spouse, John F. Deresky; brothers, Joseph J. Dembrosky and Frank J. Dembrosky; and her sister, Mary Fernandez.
Frances graduated from Mineville High School in 1938. Following graduation she married John F. Deresky and enjoyed taking care of the family with her outstanding cooking, baking, knitting, quilting and sewing skills. She enjoyed cooking at the Frontier Town Restaurant, making friends both young and old. When Frontier Town closed she took a job as a cook at the Horace Nye Nursing Home in Elizabethtown where she enjoyed cooking for the residents and bringing special requests for them. She also enjoyed going to the local casinos with her friends and to Las Vegas with her son and grandson.
Frances (known to the family as "Grammie", "Gram" or "GG") was a vibrant and loving presence in their lives and she will be greatly missed.
At her request there will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday, August 30 at St. Patrick's Church in Port Henry, N.Y. Burial will be in St. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Moriah.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Frances to the Champlain, N.Y. EMS.
