Thomas "Tom" "Tommy" Lonergan

WESTPORT/TICONDEROGA — Thomas "Tom", "Tommy" Lonergan of Westport, N.Y., passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2013. Born in Ticonderoga, May 3, 1951, he is the son of the late Carroll and Virginia Lonergan.

Tom was a well known musician in the area, playing in bands from a very young age and most recently as a solo musician. Not only was Tom a musician, he could play any instrument put in front of him, without ever knowing how to read music.

He lived his life on his own terms, traveling all across the world. Tom built his own sail boat and sailed from Ticonderoga to Key West, Fla., where he lived for several years, doing shows and entertaining the tourists while living on his boat. He traveled to Russia and taught English in a Russian college. He also had a one man show and was known as "Captain Tom" where he entertained many with his fire breathing dragon.

Tom was a self-employed Carpenter and Musician.

Tom is survived by one daughter, Bridget Dandaraw (Harlin) Seritt of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two brothers, David (Michelle) Lonergan of Central Square, N.Y., and Craig (Sharon) Lonergan of Ticonderoga, N.Y.; two sisters, Nancy Lonergan of Minerva, N.Y., and Mary (Ron) Scott of Killingly, Conn. He is also survived by two granddaughters; one grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to join in a celebration of his life from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 31, at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga.

A Funeral Service will follow at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Funeral Home.

The Rite of Committal will follow at the family plot of the Valley View Cemetery of Ticonderoga.
