CHAZY — Joseph O. Neverett, 59, of Route 9, died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
He was born in Plattsburgh on Nov. 5, 1954, the son of Leon and Doris (Pickering) Neverett.
Joe was a truck driver for Decato Brothers on the East Coast and Frank & Sons, driving across the country until 1979. He then went to work at the 11-87 Truck Plaza, which he later purchased with his brothers, Jim and Jack and operated until 2005. Joe then was employed as a driver with Winterbottom Trucking until November, 2012.
Joe had a passion for speed and would make whatever he owned go faster and faster. He was good at it and raced motorcycles, cars, snowmobiles, four wheelers and boats whenever he could with his many friends. Joe won many titles including 1st place in the 2000 Poker Run on the St. Lawrence River in Alexandria Bay. He was also an avid NASCAR fan attending several races around the country.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie (Corron) Neverett; a son, Cory Neverett and his wife, Kimberly; two granddaughters, Kylie and Kelly; great-grandson, Braylen Neverett; two brothers and sisters-in-law, James "Jim" and Patricia Neverett and John "Jack" and Marilyn Neverett; a sister and brother-in-law, Jill and Robert "Freddy" Friedrich; several nieces and nephews, Julie and Darren Babbie, Jackie and Tommy Lashway, Jami and Nick Possiant, Scott and Kristie Yelle, John Friedrich and fiance, Danette Duprey and Joshua and Ashley Friedrich. He was predeceased by his parents, Leon and Doris.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 18, at St. Louis of France Church in Sciota. Reception will follow at the Veteran's of Foreign Wars in Champlain.
