BATON ROUGE, LA. — Celia Garrow, beloved mother, grandmother and friend died peacefully at her residence on Saturday, April 6, 2013. She was 104 years young.
Celia was born in Mooers, N.Y., on Oct. 16, 1908 the daughter of Dominic and Anna (Boissonneau) LeClaire.
She married the late Jonas Garrow in 1931 and moved from Chazy to Baton Rouge in 1994.
Celia loved to spend her time cooking, playing cards, writing letters and visiting with family and friends. While Celia relocated to Louisiana 19 years ago, she always considered Chazy her home.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Michael Ryan of Trenton, Ohio, Patti Muirhead and her husband, Al of Aurora, Ill., Tammy Ryan of Trenton, Ohio, William Ryan Jr. and his wife, Vickie of Geismar, La., and Shari Ramsey and her husband, Raymond of Baton Rouge, La.; two great-grandchildren, Austin and Cory Ryan; and two sisters, Harriet LaValley of Buffalo, N.Y., and Valerie Trombly of Andover, Mass.
She was predeceased in death by her husband, Jonas Garrow; and three daughters, Elizabeth Garrow, Doris Ryan and Cecelia Garrow.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. on Sunday, April 21, at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home, 69 Court Street, Plattsburgh.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 22 at 12 Noon at Sacred Heart Church in Chazy. Burial will be in St. Louis of France Cemetery in Sciota, N.Y., at a later date.
