---- — KEESEVILLE — Giuseppe "Joe" Guglielmo, 100, formerly of Jackson Street, Keeseville, died Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at Meadowbrook Healthcare Facility in Plattsburgh, with his loving wife by his side.

Joe was born in Cranston, R.I., March 17, 1913, son of Dominque and Louisa Guglielmo, who were descendants from Italy.

As a result of the Great Depression leaving many individuals without employment, Joe (at the age of five) and his parents relocated to Napoli. He later began work with his father in construction. Joe proudly served in the Italian Air Force During WWII.

In 1962, at the age of 42, he returned to America settling in Burlington, Vt. Joe taught himself to speak English by listening to others, and learned to speak six different languages including, Italian, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, as well as Arabian. He worked as a carpenter and a janitor at Fletcher Allen Healthcare for 25 years.

Joe loved dancing, playing soccer, basketball, and listening to Italian music. He loved the outdoors, and was an avid gardener. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Ruth S. (LaFlore) Guglielmo of Keeseville; his children, Cheryl and her husband Sid Roark, Rosemary and her husband David Fisher of Florida, Debra Dubuque of Nebraska, Robert and his wife Amy Fleury, Michael and his wife Tammy Fleury, all of Peru, Patti LaGoy of Morrisonville; several grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Mario, Edward, and Victorio Guglielmo.

Calling hours will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., Monday, April 22, at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at noon at St. John's Church in Keeseville. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Keeseville Senior Citizens Club.
