Donald Trombley


---- — CHAZY — Donald "Bucket" Trombly, 76, of Fisk Road, died Monday, July 1, 2013, at CVPH Medical Center. He was born Oct. 24, 1936, in West Chazy, the son of Merton and Ruth (Cootware) Trombly.

Bucket married the former Betty St. John on April 12, 1958, at Sacred Heart Church in Chazy. Together, they owned and operated the Chazy Supermarket for 18 years. Later, he worked as a mail carrier for Town of Chazy for 30 years.

For over 46 years, Bucket served his community on the Chazy Town Board, serving as past Tax Collector (6 years), Assessor (1 year) and Deputy Supervisor. He was currently serving as Town Councilman.

Bucket was a member of the Chazy Fire Department, the Chazy Lions Club, a founding member of the North Country Chamber of Commerce, and he also helped organize the Senior Citizens Council in Chazy. He served as Chairman of the Chazy Old Home Days for several years, was past president of the Chazy Central School Alumni Association and a past parish council member of Sacred Heart Church.

Bucket was recognized as Citizen of the Year by Woodsmen of the World.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Betty Trombly of Chazy; one son, Randy Trombly and his wife Kim of Round Hill, Va.; two daughters, Susan Correia and her husband Steve of Fort Meyers, Fla., and Sheila Bull and her husband Carlton "Bucky" of West Chazy; one brother, Merton Trombly Jr. and Josie of Trenton, N.J.; two aunts, Beulah LaVarnway of Plattsburgh and Rita Fessette of Point AuRoche; one uncle, Lyles Trombly of West Chazy; grandchildren, Nichole Duhring and her husband William, Connor and Lexi Trombly, Ryan and Brent Steele, Matthew, Nathan and Maegan Bull; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by siblings, Marie Trombly Bruette, Gerald Trombly and Gloria Trombly Duprey; and son-in-law, Michael Steele.

Calling hours will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday, July 4, at R.W. Walker Funeral Home, 69 Court St., Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12 p.m. Friday, July 5, at Sacred Heart Church in Chazy. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
