ALTONA — Mr. Francis T. "Fran" Crowley, 91, of Devils Den Road, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2013 at his home with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Beekmantown on Feb. 27, 1922, son of the late Daniel and Anna (Thornton) Crowley.
Fran was in the first graduating class of Altona Central School in 1939. He attended Plattsburgh Business School from 1941 to 1942. Fran was Altona Town Clerk from 1948 to 1952, Altona School Board from 1956 to 1966 and also served as a councilman and Town Justice for the Town of Altona. He ran the Crowley family farm until 1980. Fran worked very closely with Cornell Institution to bring Artificial Breeding to the farmers of Clinton County.
Francis is survived by his wife of 38 years, the former, Joan LaGoy of Altona; Two daughters, Jennifer Chauvin Dafter of Kingston, Ontario, Canada, and Jessica Breen of Plattsburgh; one brother, Raymond Crowley of Altona; one sister, Gertrude Crowley Jarvis of Cocoa Beach, Fla., five grandchildren, Kayla, Kendra, Jenna, Katherine, Cavan; five nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews. Fran is also survived by a special brother-in-law, Michael LaGoy of Plattsburgh; and special friends, John and Marylou Weightman, Thomas Delaronde, Fred and Sandy Sayyeau, and Wallace Lagoy and family.
Calling hours and memorial mass will be held at a later date.
