PLATTSBURGH — Mr. Floyd J. Renadette, 87, of Plattsburgh, died Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at CVPH Medical Center with family by his side.
He was born on April 21, 1927, in Plattsburgh, the son of the late Albert and Alice (Bell) Renadette.
Floyd graduated from MAI in 1944 and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1945 to 1946 and later served in the Reserves for six years. He was employed as a furniture salesman and later owned and operated West End Furniture in Plattsburgh. He was a member of D.A.V. Chapter 179 and helped with Bingo and was a member of St. Peter's Church.
He and his wife Simone enjoyed their winters in Florida for 32 years. When he was younger, he enjoyed dancing, fishing, gardening, reading, and horseshoes. In his later years, he enjoyed learning new things on his computer, visiting with family and friends, enjoying a beer before dinner with his son, and card games.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Simone (Gregoire) Renadette; his children and their spouses, Karen and Frank Dutton of St. Hubert, Quebec, Steven Renadette of Plattsburgh, Michele and Tim Polhemus of Plattsburgh; his sister, Esther Arce of Plattsburgh; his grandchildren, Daniel Dutton, Kristina Dutton, Michael Polhemus, Matthew Polhemus; a great-granddaughter, Kaylee Susannah Dutton; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; two sisters-in-law, Millie Renadette and Shirley Renadette; and brother-in-law, Fred Arce.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Leon, Clifford, and Claude; his aunt, Ruth Everleth, and longtime friend Marvin Bushey.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 10, at St. Peter's Church. Entombment will be at 2 p.m. in Whispering Maples Mausoleum. Memorial donations may be offered to the North Country Honor Flight or the Palliative Care Unit c/o the Foundation of CVPH.
