PERU — Caroline Ruth "Carrie" Riley, 83, of the River Road, Peru, died Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Plattsburgh, Friday, Oct. 31, 1930, the daughter of the late Elmer and Mae (Donor) Ormsby.
Carrie, as she was fondly referred, was an active member of the Peru VFW Post 309 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed camping, taking drives, and visiting Hogansburg. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her longtime companion, Reginald Besaw of Peru; her four children, Mike Riley, Paul Riley and wife Cathy, Pam Joseph and husband Terry, and Brenda Knoll and husband Mike; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; four sisters, Helen, Mary, Loretta, and Judy; and several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Lorrin V. Riley, Saturday, March 26, 1988.
Calling hours will be held from 1 to 3 pm, Friday, June 6, 2014 at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. Committal prayers and burial will follow in the Peasleeville Cemetery.
Donations in her memory may b made to the Peru VFW Post 309 Ladies Auxiliary.
