WEST CHAZY — Barbara Rigsbee Hill Binion, 87, of Route 22, died on Thursday, May 1, 2014, at the CVPH Medical Center.
She was born in Whitney Point, N.Y. on July 10, 1926, the daughter of Wilbern and Mary Jane (Cox) Rigsbee.
Barbara worked for 36 years at Anclote Institution in Tarpin Springs, Fla. She returned to West Chazy in 1994 and was an active member of the Wesleyan Church in West Chazy. She enjoyed crocheting and singing with family. Barbara also spent several years caring for and maintaining the West Chazy Rural Cemetery.
Survivors include five children, Debbie Kunst of Fort Myers, Fla., Alan Hill of Broken Arrow, Okla., Kevin Hill, Michael Hill and Bruce Hill, all of Florida; two sisters, Katheryn Rigsbee of West Chazy and Elizabeth "Betty" Rigsbee Holmes of Brockport, N.Y.; and several grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Barbara was predeceased by two children, Karen Hill Jones in 1997 and Barbara Hill DeVinney in 1988; her first husband, Donald Hill; her second husband, Lyle Binon; seven sisters, Lucille Hurlburt, Marjorie Angevine, Georgina Vosburgh, MaryJane Powell, Judith Robinson, Virginia Moore, and Margaret Rigsbee; two brothers, John Rigsbee and Richard Rigsbee.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 9, at Community Church, formally known as West Chazy Wesleyan Church. Burial will follow in the West Chazy Rural Cemetery.
