BEEKMANTOWN — Janet Mary (Rock) Golden, 86, of the Golden Road, died on Friday, May 2, 2014, at home, with family by her side.
She was born on Oct. 1, 1927, in Cadyville, N.Y., the daughter of the late Wilfred and Nora (Sorrell) Rock.
She is a graduate of St. John's Academy, Class of 1944, Plattsburgh, and the State University of Plattsburgh School of Nursing, where she trained as a registered nurse through the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps. She was employed by the former Physicians Hospital when she married the late Raymond Golden in June 1947. After devoting several years to raising her family, she resumed nursing at CVPH Medical Center, where she retired in 1989. She was later employed by the Clinton County Nursing Home.
For the past 65 years, Janet has resided in the Town of Beekmantown. She was a communicant of St. James Church, Cadyville, and was a member of the Schuyler Falls Senior Citizens Organization, where she has served as treasurer.
Janet will always be remembered for her unwavering faith, her devotion to her family, her love of nature and learning.^ She was an avid reader and gardener who also enjoyed regular walks in the woods, cross-country skiing, painting, crocheting, writing poetry and listening to music.
She is survived by five daughters, Barbra Arnold and husband Neal of East Thetford, Vt., Patricia Colston of Ruther Glen, Va., Sheila Dooley and husband Jim of Fairfax, Vt., Diane Golden of Fort Worth, Texas, and Carolyn Bayne and husband David of Darien, Conn.; four sons, Kenneth Golden and wife Virginia of Valatie, N.Y., Edward Golden of Daegu, South Korea, Paul Golden and wife Hope and Barry Golden and wife Jamel, all of Beekmantown, N.Y. She is also survived by seventeen grandchildren, Joseph, Wendy, Eric, Judson, Jacob, Joshua, Kennon, Sean, Harrison, Timothy, Christopher, Elizabeth, Cameron, Jonathan, Leo, Rocco and Dylan; five great-grandchildren, Emma, Hannah, Samantha, Joseph and Sam. She is also survived by four sisters-in-law, Mae Golden, Ruth Moore and husband Francis, Claire Lafferty and husband Jim, Mildred Rock; one brother-in-law, Clarence Golden; and several nieces and nephews and their families.
