WITHERBEE — MORRISONVILLE - Mary E. Lashway, 69, of Route 22B, Morrisonville, N.Y., passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2014, at CVPH Medical Center. She was born in Plattsburgh on Oct. 14, 1944, the daughter of Alfred and Mary (Frenyea) Sweenor.
Mary attended Saranac Central School. She met her husband Ellsworth Lashway in 1960, they were married on Nov. 10, 1962, at St. Alexander's Church in Morrisonville. Mary worked at various places in the area before opening the Redford Diner with her husband in 1992. Together they ran the diner until their retirement in 2007. She enjoyed traveling and going for motorcycle rides. Mary's greatest joy was baking and cooking for her family, especially those Saturday night dinners with her loving family.
She was predeceased by her parents; two sisters, Alberta Daniels and Margaret Moore; a son, Mitchell J. Lashway and a niece, Edith Daniels.
Mary is survived by her husband of 51 years, Ellsworth "Al" Lashway of Morrisonville, three children and their spouses; Michael (Tammy) Lashway, Mary (Kent) Schmidt and James (Suzanne) Lashway; ten grandchildren, Courtney, Kerina, Amber, Steven, Marissa, Caitlin, Kristi, Ryan, Matthew and Shamus; seven great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Dylan, Kristopher, Bryce, Lillian, Hunter and Lydia "Pork Chop" Marie Lashway who Mary and Al have raised; several nieces; nephews and a brother, Alfred (Karen) Sweenor of Morrisonville, including the Daniels, Sweenor and Miller families and many more, and a close friend Pat Cogan, also survive her.
