---- — MANASSAS, VA. — Colonel John P. "Jack" Glasgow Jr., USMC (Ret.), 69, Manassas, Va., died on Oct. 18th, 2013.
His pure heart, sense of humor, and indomitable spirit left a lasting mark on all who knew him. He was a career Marine Corps officer and later served as the Editor of the Marine Corps Gazette. The USMC motto Semper Fidelis "always faithful" defined a life of character, conviction, and loyalty. He found every opportunity to serve, love, and comfort those around him, from the closest of family to the most casual acquaintance.
Jack was preceded in death by his mother, Lydia Mae (Wheeler) Glasgow; his father, John P. Glasgow; and his sister, Mary Glasgow.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Christine (Sokolski) Glasgow; his daughter, Sara Glasgow and son-in-law, Sean Eudaily of Dillon, Mont.; his sisters, Patricia Moell of Raleigh, N.C. and Joanne Glasgow of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; and brother, Tom Glasgow of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; as well a great number of cousins, nieces and nephews, and in-laws.
The family will receive visitors from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24 at Miller Funeral Home, 3200 Golansky Blvd., Woodbridge, Va. Services are scheduled for 9 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 25 also at Miller Funeral Home. Interment will follow at 10 a.m. at Quantico National Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Rd., Triangle, Va. After the interment, there will be a celebration of life held at the Clubs of Quantico, 3017 Russell Rd., Quantico, Va, beginning at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society.
