John A. Cameron III

QUEENSBURY — John A. Cameron III, 51, a resident of Queensbury, passed away suddenly Friday, Oct., 18, 2013. Born Dec. 15, 1961, in Malone, he was the son of John and Janet (Carron) Cameron.

John grew up in Malone, and has been a resident of Queensbury for more than 15 years. He served as Treasurer of the West Glens Falls Fire Department and was President of the West Glens Falls Fire Association.

John served the office of the Inspector General in Albany for over 20 years.

An avid reader and American History buff, John was a life long learner who would strive to instill responsibility and good moral character within his children. John was a family man whose happiest days were spent vacationing in Hilton Head, S.C., and the Bahamas with his wife and daughters. John will also be remembered for his love of community through his volunteer work at the Queensbury United Methodist Church and the West Glens Falls Fire Department, as well as his love for the Boston Red Sox, political banter, and his fondness for bananas.

John is predeceased by his father, Jack; his uncle, Al "Buddy" Pageau; and aunt, Carolyn McKinney

John is survived by his devoted wife of 18 years, Debbie; his beloved daughters, Sierra and Paris; as well as his cherished stepson and his wife, Dennis and Annmarie Fournier of Crofton, Md. He is also survived by his mother, Janet Cameron; his brother and his wife, Douglas and Brenda; and his sister, Susanne. John is also survived by many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at Singleton Sullivan Potter Funeral Home, 407 Bay Road. Following the service, friends and family are invited and may call from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. There will be a reception after the calling hours at the West Glens Falls Fire House, 33 Luzerne Rd., Queensbury, NY.
