PLATTSBURGH — Minerva E. Mousseau, 83, formerly of Champlain Park, died peacefully and gracefully, surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, April 13, at CVPH Medical Center Skilled Nursing Facility.
She was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y. on Aug. 4, 1929, the daughter of Walter and Bertha (Brault) Bushey. Minerva married Victor N. Mousseau on April 8, 1947, at St. Peter's Church.
She had been a Licensed Real Estate Agent/Broker and was Secretary and Vice President of the Clinton County Board of Realtors. Minerva was awarded Realtor of the Year in 1988. Minerva volunteered for the Interfaith Food Shelf, FitzPatrick Cancer Center and was an active member of St. Peter's Church and the Altar Rosary Society. She was a member of the National Association of Realtors, the New York State Association of Realtors and the Champlain Valley Business and Professional Women's Club. She was also a longtime friend of Bill W.
Predeceasing her besides her parents were her husband Victor Mousseau; twin children Ronald and Donald Mousseau; two grandchildren, Seth Carter and Nicolette Mousseau; her sister, Mildred Foti Gerry; three brothers, Donald Bushey, Marvin Bushey and Raymond Bushey; and a very special cousin, Peggy Nunn.
She is survived by six children, their spouses and their children, Vicki and Ron Howard of Plattsburgh (Jason Bradley and Kristi Mahoney); Nick and Debby Mousseau of Plattsburgh (Jody, Derek, and Jared Mousseau); Penny and Loy Green of Plattsburgh (Dewey and Travis Carter); Walter and Kerry Mousseau of Montreal (Erica Hughes, Corey and Elliot Mousseau, Kaitlyn and Johnny Graham); Matthew Mousseau and Christine Santelli Mousseau of Jersey City, N.J.; Michel and Demet Mousseau of Orlando, Fla. (Julian and Eli Mousseau). Minerva is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law Marie (Roland) Dumas, Rose (Wesley) Mischler, Donna Mousseau, and Shirley (Bernard) Amell. She leaves behind a very dear friend, Hanna Hock of Newmarket, N.H.; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins including Ron Dumas, Michelle Moschelle and Paul Nunn. ^ Minerva had been a resident of CVPH Skilled Nursing Facility since April, 2008. Her children are very grateful for the excellent care, friendship and love she received.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, April 19, at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad Street, Plattsburgh, NY 12901. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., April 20, at St. Peter's Church. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery.
