MASSENA — Robert M. "Bob" Perry, 72, of Lawrence Street passed away Monday morning April 15, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family and Hospice. Bob was born on Jan. 5, 1941 in Massena, the son of Salvatore and Mary (Marando) Perry.
Bob proudly served his country having enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and was honorably discharged as a petty officer third class. He married Carol McLaughlin on July 14, 1962 at St. Mary's Church in Massena with Rev. William Muench presiding. He was employed at General Motors in Massena as a tool and die maker, and retired on disability in 1986.
He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #79 and a UAW officer for 43 years in both active and retiree chapters. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, a member of the Italian American Club and he founded the Massena Junior Wrestling program. Bob was a little league baseball coach, and had involvement in a majority of minor youth sports programs. Bob also enjoyed playing golf and bowling.
Bob's survivors include his wife Carol; his children, Roberta Bobbi Hannigan of Brewster, N.Y.; Ronald M. and Cyndi Perry of Williamsville, N.Y.; Richard M. and Beth Perry of Cadyville, N.Y.; grandsons, Ryan and Justin Hannigan, of Brewster, Madeline Caprio, and Benjamin Perry of Williamsville, Hannah and Michaela Perry of Cadyville, N.Y.; brothers, Joseph and Georgette, John and Yvette Perry, Victor and Olive, all of Massena, Frank and Marie of Brasher Falls; sisters, Betty and Dominic Trimboli of South Bend, Ind., Mary Jane Hayden and Eleanor Skonieczny both of Massena, Margaret (Mickey) and Jim Parisi of Fresno, Calif.; also surviving are many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was predeceased by brother's, Samuel and Anthony; two sisters, Rosalie Perry and Annie Palmer.
A mass of Christian burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday April 17, St. Mary's Church, with Rev. Scott D. Fobare presiding. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Friends and Family may call from 2 to 4 p.m. And 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, at the Phillips Memorial Home.
