RALEIGH, NC — Terrance Lee Dickerson, formerly of Gansevoort, N.Y., passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013, at Duke University Hospital in Durham, N.C., following a long battle with leukemia. He was 62.
Terry was a commercial construction superintendent for Shelco, Inc. in Raleigh, where he lived with his beloved wife of 25 years, Susan (Vladyka) Dickerson.
Born on Dec. 16, 1950 in Elizabethtown, N.Y., he was the son of Eleanor (Smith) and Allen Dickerson.
Terry was a graduate of Elizabethtown-Lewis Central School and attended North Country Community College in Saranac Lake, N.Y. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Some of his most pleasured moments included playing with his grandchildren. Together, Susan and Terry proudly raised three children. He coached Saratoga Youth Soccer and served as past president of the Saratoga Travel Soccer League. He participated in his children's lives through softball and scouting and enjoyed hobbies including woodworking and spending time with friends and family.
Terry was predeceased by his son, Nicholas Dickerson, of Morrisville, N.C., and his father-in-law, Richard C. Vladyka Sr. of North Granville, N.Y.
In addition to his wife and parents, survivors include a son, Nathan Dickerson and his girlfriend, Shannon Phillips of Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; a daughter, Noelle Dickerson and her husband Ricky Crews of Raleigh, N.C.; two grandchildren, Alexander Dickerson and Mya Crews of Raleigh, N.C.; three sisters, Deborah Mattox and her husband Thomas of Elizabethtown, N.Y., Kathryn Bassett and her husband Ricky of Lewis, N.Y., and Cynthia Carlson of Elizabethtown, N.Y.; his mother-in-law, Audrey Vladyka of North Granville, N.Y.; a sister-in-law, Julie Smith and her husband Jeffrey of Ballston Spa, N.Y., and two brother-in-laws, Richard C. Vladyka Jr. and Edward Vladyka and his wife Brenda of Granville, N.Y. Additional survivors include two sons, Jason Dickerson of Pittsfield, Mass., and Benjamin Dickerson of Queensbury, N.Y., as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Terry's life will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 19, 2013, at St. Clement's Church, 231 Lake Avenue. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery on West Ave.
