RIPARIUS — Dorothy N. "Dot" Betters, 80, of River Road, Riparius, N.Y., and formerly of Peru, died Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at the Glens Falls Hospital with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Lake Placid, August 30, 1932, the daughter of George and Emily (Beaney) Nugent.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker throughout the years. She was also a caregiver for many elderly North Country folks.
Survivors include her children, Pat and her husband, Ron Coolidge of Phoenix, Ariz., Joe Shelley of Riparius, Kathy Shelley of Riparius, and Debbie and her husband, Orville Keyes of Peru; grandchildren, Collin Coolidge, Cory Coolidge, Tim Trayah, Kelly Jo Shelley, Benjamin Keyes and his wife, Cassey, and Katie Keyes; great-grandchildren, Jarred and Makensee Coolidge, Ben Wells, and Jackson Keyes; brother, George Nugent of Orlando, Fla; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved cat Askum Kitty.
She was predeceased by her parents; first husband, Earl Shelley, Feb. 7, 1959; second husband, Frank Betters, Feb. 25, 1989; grandson, Shawn M. Coolidge; brothers, Edward, Donald, and Gary; and sister, Eunice.
At Dorothy's request there will be no public calling hours. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 26, at the Mother Cabrini Shrine on the Patent Road, Peru. Committal prayers will follow at the Whispering Maples Memorial Mausoleum, Tom Miller Road, Plattsburgh.
