Lucy grew up on a farm and loved the country life. Fred tried other trades but when they decided to purchase a dairy farm in Cadyvillle in 1945 Lucy took on the role as homemaker with joy. They worked side by side and the farm grew and prospered. Lucy had a green thumb with flowers. Her houseplants and flower gardens were always showcase quality. Fred liked to hunt and early in the morning before the outings the kids would hear "Alice, wheres breakfast". She would serve the hunting party a breakfast of coffee, pancakes, toast, bacon and eggs with laughter filling the house. Lucy was famous for her pies. She was the official pie maker at all the family gatherings. The crust would just melt in your mouth. The aroma of her apple pies filled the countryside and many family and friends would stop for a piece. Everyone loved them and we know it was the love she baked in each one.
As her four children left the homestead she went to work at Saranac Central School Cafeteria. A job she totally loved as she was with women cooking and feeding others again. Lucy was a member of Court Mother Admirable #592 Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She also was a member of the "Not So Prim Roses" Red Hatters of North Carolina. "We Love Lucy" for her Youthful Spirit. She never lost the Zest for life and enjoyed people, company and parties. She loved to smile, laugh, play pinochle, Square Dance, go snowmobiling with Fred and family and just "Celebrate Life". She loved her family dearly and each new grandchild and family member was important to her. She loved company and visiting with all her family and friends. Her amazing memory which stored dates, birthdates and so many facts was sharp until the end and amazed us all.
