PERU — Arnold K. Wells, 91, of the Lapham Mills Road, Peru, died Monday, July 15, 2013 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Peru, April 11, 1922, the son of Loney and Sarah (Hebert) Wells. He served in the United States Army from 1944 until his honorable discharge in 1946.
Arnold worked for the railroad for 16 years, and then for the NYS DOT in Keeseville for several years prior to retiring. He was a lifetime member of the Peru VFW Post 309.
Arnold enjoyed working, but especially enjoyed caring for his lawn, and gardening.
Survivors include his children, Richard Wells and companion Linda Richards of Plattsburgh, Helen and Larry Kuhn of Camden, Del., Debra and Robert Boulrice of West Chazy, and Doris and Chuck Duffany of Peru; one son-in-law, Romeo Banard of Plattsburgh; daughter-in-law, Cathy A. (Collins) Wells of Peru; 15 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents; wife, Mary (Annis) Wells; daughter, Joyce Banard; and sons, Kenneth Wells, and Roger Wells.
Calling hours will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 2013 at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 2 p.m. at St. Augustine's Church in Peru with Rev. Alan D. Shnob, parish pastor, celebrating. Committal prayers, military honors, and burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the FitzPatrick Cancer Center in Plattsburgh.
