PLATTSBURGH - Carol A. Andrus, 71, of Cumberland Head Road, passed away Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, at her residence with her loving husband at her side. Hospice of the North Country facilitated her comfortable and peaceful passing.
She was born in Queens, N.Y., on Nov. 28, 1942, the daughter of Benjamin Poirier and M. Hyrniak-Poirier. Carol married John Andrus in Plattsburgh in Nov. of 2000.
She worked as an Operating Room Technician, R.N. for 15 years at the CVPH Medical Center and then for ten years for the Clinton County Department of Public Health as a Home Health Care Nurse.
Carol spent much of her life caring for others. Her nursing care was often recognized as outstanding by patients and their families. She also received many awards for dedicated Public Service and was a member of the New York State Nurses Association.
Carol enjoyed family, the arts, music, and dancing and all those things that embrace the human spirit. Carol was a courageous person who fought bravely against severe Rheumatoid Arthritis for the last 13 years. In June she was further challenged by lung cancer.
Survivors include her husband, John Andrus of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; two sons, David Gordon of Plattsburgh, N.Y., and Peter Gordon of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
