CHAMPLAIN — Roland Tetreault, 80, of Tallman Road, Champlain, died July 1, 2014, of Lewy Body Dementia with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Coopersville, N.Y., July 14, 1933, son of the late Wilfred and Levida (Remillard) Tetreault.
Roland was a lifelong Champlain resident. On Aug. 3, 1957, he married the former Joanne Poirier of Plattsburgh at St. Mary's Church. He was a dairy farmer until 1989, and then worked as a golf course superintendent at the North Country Golf Club in Rouses Point. Roland was a 4th -degree Knight and more than 50 year member of the Knights of Columbus Champlain Council 3525, serving as Grand Knight for two years. He enjoyed playing golf, card games at the Knights of Columbus hall, watching his beloved Yankees play, winters in Florida, and spending time with his grandchildren, who adored their P^p^re.
He is survived by his children, Diana Rachfal (Stephan), Luke (Rachel Swire), Karen Gebert (Stephen), Timothy, and Michelle Tetreault-Carlson; and his beloved grandchildren, Kristen and Melissa Rachfal, Katherine, Erik, Jennifer, and Donald Carlson, and Nicole Gebert; his brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Suzanne Tetreault; and sister-in-law, Gloria Tetreault; as well as several in-laws, cousins, and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Roland is predeceased by his wife, Joanne; and his brother, John Paul.
Calling Hours will be from 4 to 7 pm Friday, July 11, at Ross Funeral Home, 2586 Route 11, Mooers, N.Y.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 am Saturday, July 12, at St. Mary's Church, 86 Church St., Champlain. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery.
