CHAMPLAIN — PLATTSBURGH- Dorothy M. Rachkaitis, 101, formerly of Wall Street, Plattsburgh, died Wednesday, July 2, 2014, in Wallingford, Conn.
She was born in Moffitsville, N.Y. on March 25, 1913 the daughter of Milo and Ruby (Collins) LaValley.
Dorothy worked a the Hawkeye Trail Camps in Silver Lake, the Emma Willard School in Troy, N.Y., the Witherill Hotel, and retired as a cashier from Brodi's Bar and Grill in Plattsburgh.
Survivors include two daughters, Penny Thornton and her husband John of Wallingford, Conn. and Fairley Reome of Gaffney, S.C.; one son-in-law, Charles Neiman of Plattsburgh; one sister, Doris M. Lareau of Plattsburgh; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Frank in 1982; one daughter, Clara Neiman in 2011; one son-in-law, Olen Reome; and one brother, Herbert LaValley.
Calling hours will be private and held at the convenience of the family. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 7, in Our Lady of Victory Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to Our Lady of Victory Church. Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of the R.W.
