WILLSBORO — Marion P. Cioppa, 88, of the West Road, Willsboro, died peacefully, Monday, June 9, 2014 at her home under the loving care of her family and High Peaks Hospice.
She was born in Ticonderoga, Thursday, August 13, 1925, the daughter of the late Albert and Mary (Roberts) Patterson.
Marion grew up in Willsboro and graduated from Willsboro Central School in 1943. She was proud to have received her bachelor's degree from the University of Vermont, and later her master's degree from Plattsburgh State University.
Marion was a school teacher in Ticonderoga, Hot Springs, Montana, and lastly in Willsboro. She was a talented quilter and member of the Lady Bug Quilters of Willsboro. In addition to quilting, she enjoyed stained glass, needlework, genealogy and creative writing.
Survivors include her children, Carl Timothy Cioppa and wife Elena of Bethlehem, N.Y., Terri Cioppa of Peru, Andrea Stewart and her husband Keith of Ballston Spa, Tracey Cioppa of Willsboro, and Eric Cioppa and his wife Kathy of China, Me.; her beloved grandchildren, Peter and wife Chrissie, Karyn and husband Jason, Ryann and fiance Chris, Zachary, Matthew, and Corey; great-grandson, Jamie Cioppa; sisters, Marge Forrence and her husband Bill, Dottie Dodds, and Grace Uhlig and her husband John; sister-in-law, Mary Charlton; brother-in-law, Carl Cioppa; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents; she was predeceased by her husband, Anthony Cioppa in 2004; brothers-in-law, Doug Dodds, Terry Charlton, and Joseph Cioppa and his wife Kerm; and sisters-in-law, Sunny Cioppa, and Susan Pockett and her husband Lee.
A memorial service will be held at 2 pm Saturday, July 5, 2014 at the Willsboro United Methodist Church.
