CLINTONVILLE — Michael H. Smith Sr., 60, died unexpectedly, Saturday, June 7, 2014, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
He was boTheresa (Irwin) Smith.
Mike owned and operated Mike Smith Logging in Clintonville for many years. He was an extremely dedicated and hard worker. He loved being in the woods. When he wasn't in the woods, he enjoyed playing pool, gambling, and watching NASCAR on Sundays. Mike was a member of the Empire State Forest Products Association.
He will be remembered for his kind and generous nature, as he would help anyone in need, day or night. He had an unconditional love for his children, and all of his family and friends. Mike could fix anything, and was the best truck driver around, and very much enjoyed his daily visits to the family garage. He will also be remembered for his infectious laugh. A laugh like know other.
Survivors include his 20 year companion, Jeanne (Thwaits) Lavallee; three children, Deanna LeClair and her husband Donald Jr., Michael Smith Jr. and his companion Darlene Doner, and Treena Smith and her fiance Shane Mlecsko; grandchildren, Donald LeClair III, and Kaitlyn, Tiffanie, and Joseph; siblings, James Smith Jr., Sandra Blaise and companion Stacy Spooner, John Smith and wife Doris, Roger Smith and wife Elizabeth, and David Smith and his companion Christine Lewis; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Stephen Smith in 1973.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 pm Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 am Thursday, June 12, 2014 at St. John's Church in Keeseville with Monsignor Leeward J. Poissant, parish pastor, celebrating. Burial will follow in the Clintonville Methodist Cemetery.
Donations in his memory may be made to American Heart Association, or the American Diabetes Association.
