PERU — Irene A. Cumber-Cross, 54, of Henry Sr. Dr., Peru, died Sunday, June 16, 2013, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh with her loving family by her side. She was born in Plattsburgh Feb. 6, 1959, the daughter of Arthur and Irene (Downing) Cumber.
Irene graduated from AuSable Valley in 1977. Throughout the years, Irene worked for various area apple farms, including King Orchards, Rulfs Orchard, and lastly Forrence Orchards. She most recently worked for Sam's Club in Plattsburgh.
Irene enjoyed browsing yard sales, and volunteering at St. Vincent DePaul of St. Augustines Parish in Peru. Her true love was spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, William Cross of Peru; three sons, Bruce Bombard (April Wade) of Peru, Joseph Bombard of AuSable Forks, and Tony Bombard (Candice) of Peru; seven grandchildren, Joshua Leclaire, Bruce Bombard, Trent Bombard, Quinten Bombard, Hailey Bombard, Hayden Bombard, and Jaheim Wade; siblings, Mary and Bill Cumber of Plattsburgh, Duane and Jeanette Cumber of Peru, Arthur and Jay Cumber of Keeseville, Martin and Debbie Cumber of AuSable Forks, Tammy and David VanValkenburg of Peru, and Starlene and William Bombard of Keeseville; one uncle, Carl Cumber; and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, June 20, at Hamilton Funeral Home, 124 Clinton Street, Keeseville. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the Riverview Cemetery in Clintonville.
