---- — SARANAC — Wallace G. "Hap" Allinson, 73, of Route 3, Saranac, died Saturday, June 15, 2013 at his home. He was born in Plattsburgh, August 5, 1939, the son of Charles Bud and Lois (Manley) Allinson.
Hap attended Saranac Central School and later enlisted in the U.S. Army for 3 and a half years. 2 years of his service was overseas in the Corps. He enjoyed his time there immensely, especially Germany, and developed his love for traveling. Upon his return he joined the family business of Allinson Motors with his father and brother. Their business spanned more than 30 years. They also co-owned Buds Diner. He was a life member of the VFW, and also served as President of the Saranac Independent Cemetery for several years.
His greatest love was his family; nothing was too big, filling 5,000 water balloons a year, or too small, always having M&Ms to share. When it came to loving his family and making them smile. Hap was cherished for sharing his love, patience, and amazing knowledge of most anything. He was an avid Walt Disney fan. He enjoyed working with his excavating toys.
Survivors include his loving wife of 29 years, Judith P. (Coryer) Allinson; eight children, Melanie Bell of Saranac, June (Eric) Rascoe of Cadyville, Lynn (Julie) Strack, Judy (Ed) Rice of Saranac, Jean (Carson Arnold) Dann of Redford, Jenny (Scott Daniels) Myers of Plattsburgh, David (Tracy) Strack of Cadyville, and Roger (Katie) Allinson of West Chazy; twenty-one, grandchildren, Cory, Kristen, Tristin (Nick), Heather, Kayla, Meagan, Derek, Christopher, Nathan, Sarah (Carson Jr.) Amanda, Kaitlin, Eric, Braquel, Jessalyn, Lauren, Jacob, Dallas, Kaitlyn, and Jareant; eight great-grandchildren, Taylor, Haleigh, Rylie, Peyton, Hannah, Natalie, Isaiah, and Mason; two sisters, Anne Lassal, and Georgia Bortel; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Richard "Dick" Allinson, sister-in-law, Marion "Mim" Allinson; and infant son, Steven Allinson.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be held at a later date in the Saranac Independence Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Champlain Valley Transportation Museum in Plattsburgh. He and his brother donated many items to the museum. The family also ask that you please display your Flags and be proud to be an American. He would be honored.
