CONSTABLE — Lyle S. McGibbon, 90, of Constable, died June 13, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family, Hospice of the North Country, and friends.
Born in Westville June 1, 1923, he was the son of Bernice and Walter Stark McGibbon.
Mr. McGibbon was a 1941 graduate of Franklin Academy and owned and operated a dairy farm his entire working career.
He received his private pilot license to fly single engine aircraft in 1977. He built and flew model planes, enjoyed carpentry work, and restoring old farm machinery. He enjoyed playing the keyboard , as well as round, square, and line dancing.
He married the former Margaret Ethel Brooks on May 11, 1945, at the United Church Manz in Kennsington, Quebec. She predeceased him April 15, 1998. He was united in marriage to Audrey Trombley-Trombly on Sept. 7, 2002, in Churubusco, N.Y., by Father Howard McCasland and Rev. Thomas Davis.
Mr. McGibbon was a member of the Constable Methodist Church, and was active with the Fort Covington Adult Center.
Survivors include his wife Audrey of Constable; three step children, Jason Trombly of Plattsburgh, Stephanie Trombly and companion Lauren Blair of Plattsburgh, Valerie and her husband Charley Walker of Acworth, Ga.; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Donnamay McGibbon of Malone; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Leah Brooks of Huntingdon, Quebec, Janet and Robert Smellie of Trout River.
Besides his first wife, he was predeceased by a daughter Diane, a brother Arthur, a sister, Joyce White and a brother-in-law, Thomas Brooks.
Friends and family may call from 9 to 11 a.m. on Monday at the Spaulding Funeral Home in Malone, with services following at 11:30 at the Constable United Methodist Church with Rev. William Bond officiating. Burial will be in the Briggs Street Cemetery in Westville.
Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the Constable United Methodist Church or Hospice of the North Country.
Following the funeral service, the family invites friends family to join them at the Constable Fire Hall for a time of food, fellowship and remembrance. Arrangements are by the Spaulding Funeral Home of Malone.
