CADYVILE — Suzanne (Sue) Schildge, 78, died Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, at her home.
She was born on April 5, 1935, in Wausau, Wis., the daughter of Bissell and Helen (Skinner) Bradley.
Sue worked for the Press-Republican in the classified ads department before she embarked on her career as an author and owner of Schildge Publishing Company. She wrote seven restaurant guides that ranged from the Adirondacks, Albany/Saratoga, Vermont, Boulder Colo., and Minneapolis, Minn. and five cookbooks.
Sue was a devoted mother who climbed many of the Adirondack 46ers with her sons. She also loved traveling and dining out. Sue moved for a time to Aurora, Colo. before returning to her beloved home in Cadyville.
Sue is survived by her children, George, Chris and wife Suzie, Scott and wife Karen; and grandchildren, Stephan, Devon, Mitchell and Ryan; a brother Bill Bradley and wife Nancy.
Sue was predeceased by her husband, George H. Schildge on July 3, 2004.
Calling hours will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.
