---- — KEESEVILLE — Ashley M. Stranahan, 83, of Route 9N, Keeseville, died peacefully Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, following a courageous battle with cancer. His loving family was by his side.

He was born in Willsboro, July 23, 1930, the son of Charles and Sadie (Murray) Stranahan.

Ashley attended Willsboro Central School. At the age of 17 he enlisted in the U.S. Army and became a proud member of the infantry. He was a Korean War Veteran, and Bronze Star recipient.

Following his service in the military, he became a skilled mechanic. He worked at E.G. LaDuke Chevrolet as the Service Manager. He later owned and operated Ashley's Auto Repair in Keeseville for more than 50 years.

Ashley was blessed with many wonderful friends, whom he shared many conversations over coffee and donuts at his garage, and later in his hospital room.

Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Susan (Boisseau) Stranahan, whom he married Monday, Oct. 22, 1956; two loving children, Stephen of Morrisonville, and Sara Pray and her husband Blair of Peru; his cherished grandchildren, Jonathan Pray, and Kristen Brassard and her husband Grant, all of Peru; two sisters-in-law, Eleanor Stranahan of Macon, Ga., and Nancy Boisseau of Keeseville; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Ashley was predeceased by his brothers, Willard, George, and Albert Stranahan; and sister, Blanche Crowningshield.

At Ashley's request there will be no public calling hours. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Military honors and burial will be held in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Keeseville.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Advocacy Resource Center, or the Keeseville Rescue Squad.
