TICONDEROGA — Eileen F. Phaneuf, 71, of Heritage Commons Nursing Home in Ticonderoga, N.Y., went to be with her heavenly father on Oct. 9, 2013.
She was born in Baltimore, Md. on Oct. 2, 1942, the daughter of Russell and Ruth Hodges.
Eileen lived in Plattsburgh for most of her life, moving to Crown Point, N.Y. in 1985. She enjoyed raising her children on a farm and working in the barn, and in later years spending time with her grandchildren. Eileen loved animals and spending time outdoors, especially the countless hours she spent mowing the lawn on her riding lawn mower. She moved to Ticonderoga in 2007 and resided at Lord Howe Estates until moving to Heritage Commons Nursing Home in July, 2013.
Eileen is survived by her sister Dawn Harvey of Morrisonville, N.Y.; her sons, Shawn and (Shellie) Phaneuf and Donny and (Kim) Phaneuf of Plattsburgh; her daughter Brenda and (Todd) DuShane of Crown Point, N.Y.; a stepson James Phaneuf of Plattsburgh; twelve grandchildren, Billie Phaneuf, Ken Phaneuf, Kayleigh Keast, and Will and Ross Phaneuf, Shawn Jr. and Scotty Phaneuf, Jacob and Jonah Phaneuf, and Shelbie, Kristen and Bailey DuShane; two great-grandchildren, Haley and Sara; as well as several nieces and nephews. Eileen also shared a special relationship with Tracey Phaneuf.
She was predeceased by her parents, Russell and Ruth Hodges; her husband Donald H. Phaneuf in 2002; her son William M. Phaneuf in 2010; and brothers George Hodges and Dick Miller.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Minday, Oct. 14 at the Bible Baptist Church in Crown Point, with a reception at the church immediately following. Burial will be carried out privately by her family.
