Royal W. Jarvis

ALBURGH/WATERVILLE, VT. — Royal W. Jarvis passed away suddenly at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans, on Thursday, April 3, 2013 with his family by his side. Royal was born on Oct. 15, 1923 in Alburgh.

Royal was married to the late Margie Maxfield for 65 years. Royal graduated from Alburgh High School, Coyne Electrical School, Chicago, Ill., and went on to employment in Bridgeport, Conn. Royal served in New York City in the Army during World War II. Royal returned to Vermont and purchased a farm in Waterville where he met and married Marge. Royal and Marge moved to Alburgh in 1957 where Royal worked as a Rural Mail Carrier. Several years ago Royal and Margie returned to Waterville where they began their lives together in Codding Hollow, Waterville.

Royal enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. With Marge by his side, Royal operated a sawmill on their property, sugared, trapped, sold frogs, ran a service station, built cottages, owned a snowmobile sales/repair shop, had a turkey farm. Royal also drove a school bus and worked for the railroad.

Royal is survived by five children, Juanita and Dennis Artman, Edie and Rick Pollin, Greg Jarvis, Jean and Stan Jesberger, Debra Jarvis; grandchildren, Andy Pollin, Alta Steiner, Amy Pollin, Jon Artman, Dylan Jarvis, Sam Jesberger and Bianca Fournier; great-grandchildren, Emi Pollin, Jack Pollin, Joseph Steiner, Grant Pollin, Isabella Steiner.

Royal was predeceased wife, Marge in Sept., 2013 and his son Dick, in 1986.

The Liturgy of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 6th, at St. Amadeus Church, 9 North Main St., Alburgh, Vt. Father Francis R. Prive will be the celebrant and homilist. The Rite of Committal and Interment with full Military Honors, will follow at the Jarvis family plot in St. Amadeus Cemetery, Alburgh, Vt.
