ELKHART, Ind. — Donna M. (Ross) Varmette Skinner, 65, of Elkhart, Ind. died Aug. 7, 2013, at Elkhart General Hospital. She was born in Ticonderoga, N.Y. on May 19, 1948, the daughter of Don Ross (he survives) and Marie (Brock) Ross (who has preceded her in death).
Donna was married to Terry Varmette, who survives and lives in Saranac Lake, N.Y. and her second husband, King Skinner who preceded her in death. He was from Crown Point, N.Y.
Donna loved doing crafts, such as quilting, crocheting, and other craft projects. Also she collected Father Christmas statues. She also participated in 4-H in Crown Point, of which she was crowned the Dairy Princess.
She worked as a secretary for a variety of companies and lastly she worked at the Park 'n Shop grocery in South Bend, Ind. and also the Winn-Dixie grocery in Melbourne, Fla. for many years in the meat department.
Donna is survived by her children, Aaron (Robin)Varmette of Granger, Ind. and a daughter, Gabby (Dan Lechuga) Varmette of Hebron, Ky.; her siblings, Mindy Dickinson of Wantage, N.J., Perk Ross of Crown Point; Doug Ross of Ticonderoga, N.Y.; and Tim Ross of Mechanicsville, Va; her four grandchildren, Zach, Austin, Spencer Varmette and Tucker Lechuga.
A memorial service is planned for Donna at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17, at the First Congregational Church in Crown Point. Burial will follow in the Congregational Cemetery in Crown Point.
