David W. Trayah

PERU — David W. Trayah, 55, of the Dashnaw Road, Peru, died October 13, 2013, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, with his loving family and friends by his side.

He was born in Burlington, Vt. on Sept. 8, 1958, the son of Wallace E. and Anne (Klein) Trayah.

David graduated from Peru Central School in 1975. He served in the U.S. Army in the 13th Parallel, and retired in 2004. He served with the Vermont Army National Guard for many of those years. During his military career he served with the Combat Pistol Team ranking in the Governor's 20. He received numerous medals for small arms championships, and was a marksman champion.

Following his military retirement, he was employed with Nelson Chagnon Trucking and Dick Glode Trucking. David was a member of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association, the Vermont Pistol Team, and Essex Junction Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6689.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, spending time at the shooting range, playing checkers, riding his motorcycles, and listening to music.

Survivors include his loving mother, Anne Trayah and her companion Romeo Barnard of Peru, with whom he resided with for the previous four years; brother and best friend, Billy and his wife Darlene (Barnard)Trayah of Plattsburgh, brother Tim Trayah of Vermont, brother Wally Trayah of North Carolina; and special friends, David Rabideau, and Dale Bradley. He was predeceased by his father, Wallace E. Trayah, March 23, 2002.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at St. Augustine's Church in Peru with Rev. Alan D. Shnob, parish Pastor, celebrating. A reception will follow at the Peru Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 309.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association, the Peru Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 309, or the Mother Cabrini Shrine c/o St. Augustine's Parish.
