---- — SOUTH GLENS FALLS — Michael Joseph Sharrow of Elmwood Drive, South Glens Falls, died at home on Monday evening, Nov. 11, surrounded by his loving family, after a year-long battle with acute myeloid leukemia. Mike was born Dec. 18, 1948, to Chester and Marie (Cofoo) Sharrow. He was raised in the Spanish Settlement, Witherbee, N.Y. He married his high school sweetheart, Allison MacDonald, on April 19, 1975, at St. Patrick's Church, Port Henry.

Mike was a graduate of Moriah Central School, where he was a four-sport standout. He received an associate's degree from the Hudson Valley Community College and continued his education at the University of Buffalo, where he received a bachelor of science degree in education in 1971.

Mike was employed by the South Glens Falls Central School District. He was a physical education teacher there for 33 years, retiring in 2003. While at South High, Mike coached football and basketball and inspired many athletes and students in realizing that dedication and hard work would help them in achieving their own goals in life.

Mike was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing at area golf courses. Most recently, he was a member of Hiland Country Club. Mike has been a fan of the New York Giants and the New York Yankees his entire life.

Mike was predeceased by his parents, his younger brother, David; his in-laws, Allan and Margaret MacDonald; and his niece and goddaughter, Kristin Pilger.

Mike is survived by his wife and the two sons he adored, Michael and his wife Becca of Dover, N.H. and David and his wife Jennifer of Exeter, N.H. He is survived by two sisters, Emma Kay Blair and her husband Ken of Malta and Donna Anderson and her husband Wayne of Raleigh, N.C.; his aunts, Rachael Strazza and Catherine Tagariello of Queensbury and Elizabeth Goodspeed of Westport; his uncle, Francis Corbo of Essex Junction, Vt.; his sisters-in-law, Gail (George) Pilger of Moriah, Jean (Rory) Frazee of Houston, Texas, Patricia (David) Hudson of South Glens Falls; and his brother-in-law, Allan (Susan) MacDonald of Nashua, N.H.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Dr. Mark Hoffman, his PA, Nikol Delair; his nurse, Andrew; and the nurses in the short term care unit for the compassion they showed Mike during his illness. A special thank you is extended to the staff of the Glens Falls Hospital Laboratory for the kindness and support shown to Mike and his family during this very difficult time.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at St Patrick's Church in Port Henry. Burial will follow at St Patrick's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations in Mike's memory made to the C.R. Wood Cancer Center, Glens Falls Hospital, 102 Park St., Glens Falls, NY 12801.
