KEESEVILLE - Francis R. Rock, 91, of Main Street, Keeseville, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013, at Meadowbrook Healthcare in Plattsburgh. He was born Feb. 26, 1922, in AuSable Chasm, the son of Alfred and Emma (Blaise) Rock. He was a WWII veteran, having served proudly from 1942 until his honorable discharge in 1945.
Francis was a lifelong resident of Keeseville. As a young man, he worked at AuSable Chasm and later at Prescott's Mill. Following retirement from the mill, he went back to AuSable Chasm and worked for several years. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. Francis also enjoyed attending auctions and antiquing.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Gladys (Clark) Rock of Keeseville, whom he married Oct. 30, 1948, at St. Patrick's Church in Port Henry; one daughter, Margaret Rock of Gettysburg, Pa.; two sons and daughters-in-law, William and Janice Rock of Keeseville, and Robert and Debra Rock of Burkburnett, Texas; sister, Dorothy Ryan of Plattsburgh; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and siblings, Hilda Gioiosa, and Norman, Leo, Paul, and Richard Rock.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the spring at St. John's Cemetery in Keeseville. Donations in his memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.
