CHESTERFIELD, N.J. — Stanley R. Getavesky, 73, entered into peaceful rest with Jesus, his Lord and Savior, on Wednesday Oct. 2, 2013, at the home of his step daughter, Mona Fredlund in Atco, N.J., following a short battle with cancer.
He was born in Lyon Mountain on Sept. 28, 1940, the son of Joseph and Irene (Facteau) Getavesky.
Stan was the most kind hearted person you could ever meet. He was always there with a helping hand for anyone in need. He gave to everyone all his life and even in his death he gave by donating his body to science. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends, but we take comfort in knowing he is in his heavenly home and not suffering anymore.
Stanley was predeceased by his parents; his siblings, Michael Getavesky, Joseph Getavesky, Linda Getavesky and Kathleen Getavesky.
Survivors include four sisters, Bernice Getavesky and Crystal Getavesky of Plattsburgh, Mary Hartpence of Lyon Mountain, and Phyllis Detschel and her husband Bill of Leesburg, Fla.; his stepdaughters, Mona Fredlund, Monica Goodnow, Michelle Fredlund and Margaret Nixon all of New Jersey; his grandchildren, Marlisese, Hunter, Andrew and Matthew, all of New Jersey; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great- nephews; and many friends including his church family in New Jersey.
At his request there will be no calling hours. A gathering to celebrate Stan's life will be held at a later date.
