Nicholas "Nick" Buckley Furnia

PLATTSBURGH — Mr. Nicholas "Nick" Buckley Furnia, 24, of Steltzer Ave., Plattsburgh, N.Y., passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, at the CVPH Medical Center. He was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., on Dec. 12, 1988, the son of Randy and Susan (Buckley) Furnia.

Nick was a graduate of Beekmantown Central School where he was a standout athlete. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Nick graduated from Clinton Community College and was currently a student at Plattsburgh State. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and playing disc golf.

He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Clifton Buckley and his paternal grandfather, Norman Furnia.

Nick is survived by his mother, Susan Buckley of Beekmantown; his father, Randy Furnia and his wife Kari of Peru; his maternal grandmother, Geraldine "Geri" Buckley of Beekmantown; his paternal grandmother, Harriett Furnia of Peaseleeville; two brothers, Jonathan Buckley of Plattsburgh, and Benjamin Furnia of Rochester; a nephew, Jacob Furnia of Peru; two stepbrothers, Bret and Chase Boyer of Peru; several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive him.

Calling hours will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, N.Y. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, at St. Joseph's Church, West Chazy. Interment will be at St. Peter's Cemetery, Plattsburgh.
